A man camping in an apple orchard

Details

Since generations our family grows apples. In Kinnaur you can see apple orchards everywhere. Planting and growing apples is a big part of our culture. We offer you the possibility for camping in our apple orchard. You can go arround the apple orchard and see how the apple grows. We will explain you everything about apple farming and if you come at apple season, then you get of course also fresh apples. From our apple orchard you have a wonderful view onto our valley and the villages in the valley.

It is a unique experience to camp in a apple orchard. There is nothing better as being surrounded by apple trees, having a beautiful view and eat some fresh apples. In the evening you will cook a nice meal on a fire or stove and after that go to your tent middle in the apple trees.

During the day you can go higher up the hill and see all the other apple orchards. Even higher up, the apple orchards stop and there will be a beautiful looking forest. As you go higher and higher up, you will se from time to time some houses. In those simple houses live farmers that grow their local traditional crops. You can see how they live and grow their crops and also talk to them if you want. And as further up you go, the better the view gets. You will see more and more of the valley and the surrounding mountains. Around 2-3 hours up, you will get a breathtaking panoramic view.

Camping in our apple orchard can be combined with an other trek. For example if you want to do a trek, you can first sleep one night in our apple orchard and after that go on the trek.

If you only want to sleep in our apple orchard without the hike up to the mountain this is also possible. Or if you have any other wishes, just let us know and we will arrange a custom tour four you.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Go to apple orchard and hike

In the morning we will go to our apple orchard. It is a nice walk of around 40mins away from our village Kasrim. On the way you will already see some other apple orchards and get a first view onto our valley from the top. After we reach our orchard we do a break there. We will explain you everything about our apple orchard and how we do apple farming. From here you can already see the mountains. It is a truly unique view to see the mountains, covered with snow through the apple trees.

We will leave our tent, cooking stuff and all other stuff we don't need during the day here and then hike higher up. It's a steep but very beautiful incline. First we will walk through may apple trees. After that there will come a forest. From time to time you will see farmers living in their houses here, far away from any road, accessible by car. They grow their local crops here.

As we go higher up, the view will always get more and more beautiful. After 2-3 hours we will reach the end of the forest. From here you can see our whole valley and all the mountains surrounding them. After a break we will go back again to our apple orchard.

At our apple orchard, you have time to just enjoy the view and being middle in the apple trees. After that we will start to cook our dinner. And then go to sleep in our tent, that is located between apple trees.

Day 2 - Back to Kasrim

On this day we can take it easy. After a delicious breakfast, some coffee or tea we will slowly head back to the village Kasrim.
